Tijl De Bie
Tijl is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol, where he was appointed as a Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence in January 2007. He completed his PhD on machine learning and advanced optimization techniques in 2005 at the University of Leuven. During and after his PhD he has performed research in U.C. Berkeley, U.C. Davis, the University of Southampton, the University of Leuven, and currently the University of Bristol. His research covers a range of disciplines, including data mining, machine learning, pattern analysis, web and online news media mining, bioinformatics, and recently also music information retrieval. He leads the research group on music information retrieval in the Intelligent Systems Laboratory at the University of Bristol.
Matt graduated from the University of Bristol in 2008 with an MSc in Mathematics. He enjoyed his time in Bristol so much that he decided to stay on to pursue a PhD in Complexity Science, with a concentration in Music Information Retrieval and expects to graduate in September 2012. He likes to play guitar in a variety of styles in his spare time, and considers hours spent playing at home as 'expanding his musical knowledge' and therefore definitely a constructive use of his time.
Y. Ni graduated from a normal high school at his hometown (Quanzhou). Then had a good time at Xiamen University (China) before coming to U.K. His MSc life was quite enjoyable in the Dpt of Computer Science at University College London (2005-2006), after which he grabed a chance to join the ISIS Group at the School of Electronics and Computer Science (University of Southampton), under the supervision of Dr. Craig Saunders (and Prof. Mahesan Niranjan from his third year). His PhD research was on "machine learning for machine translation", unfortunately he never understands some languages they were trying to translate (French and Spanish) (-_-b). Now, he is a research fellow in the Pattern Analysis and Intelligent Systems research group, working on Music Information Retrieval (MIR) with Dr. Tijl De Bie.
Raul is a Research Assistant in the Signal Theory and Communications Department at the University Carlos III of Madrid. He completed his PhD. in July 2011, under the supervision of Prof. Jesus Cid-Sueiro and is also a student member of the PASCAL 2 Network of Excellence.
Panagiotis just finished his MSc in Machine Learning and Data Mining in University of Bristol, where he graduated with Distinction. In his final project, supervised by Tijl De Bie, he researched on real-time music improvisation systems. Before that he used to study in Computer Science in University of Ioannina, Greece. He spends his free time messing around with music, computational arts, design and developing his record label, Amplify records.
Panagiotis joined the team to help developing the scoreahit web app, with expected launch date around half January!
